Bill Harris writes about fear and kids. I would not have understood that way of thinking a couple of months ago, since it’s not logical, but now, for some reason, it is.

One of my coworkers — a seemingly unsentimental guy who happens to be the father of two — confided in me the other day that even now that his daughter is 6, he still goes into her room before he goes to sleep. He tells his wife that he’s tucking her in, but he’s really going to check on her and make sure she’s breathing. Because he just can’t sleep unless he does.
It’s a whole new world.
